We made it out for a short jaunt in the palouse, very fertile grasslands south of spokane full of wheat, pea fields and wild grasses. The french fur traders named the area the palouse which apparently means grass. The area become known for it's spotted horses which were called "a palouse horse" which then became apolossa.
