You just have to fly kites in March. I think it's a rule somewhere. We made our own kite last year and had yet to fly it. Well, it didn't do so well, especially in high winds, but it looked lovely.

Then we got serious and borrowed some great kites and took them to a school yard.
It was really windy. Maybe a little too windy. We did snap 3 support poles.
This is what Charlotte did most of the time.
We got the delta wing up...
but were a little afraid, it is so large and the wind was really gusty. We were afraid it was going to hit someone.
Clara flew a box kite all by her self.
It did get stuck in a tree once.
Luke loved playing in the tires with his cousins, he didn't even care that there were kites around. We had a great time.

I'm impressed you made your own! You did better than us. We went for the 2 dollar kites and they last about 2 minutes and none of those two minutes were spent very high in the sky:)
